Myeloma Foundation of Australia Inc. arranges full day seminars and half day workshops, usually held in universities, local community halls and treatment centres, to empower patients and carers with valuable information and support and provide fellowship to the myeloma community.
Below is an example of the sixty or so events conducted by MFA during the past decade.
National Myeloma Seminar.
Melbourne, March 7, 2009
MFA’s National Seminar held in Melbourne earlier this year was voted the best yet by those who had attended similar events in past years. Over 180 delegates heard speakers address wide ranging topics from an explanation of myeloma and its standard treatments through stem cell transplantation, exercise for the patient, care for the carer, bone and kidney disease, amyloidosis, relapsed disease and the latest myeloma research.
One of the most popular sessions was the Patient and Carer Panel during which popular TV presenter Ms Ali Moore, whose mother has myeloma, interviewed a panel of 3 patients and 1 carer and encouraged each panelist to share her/his experiences with living with myeloma. This proved a compelling session which was filmed and may be viewed in the Video section of this site.
