The Myeloma Foundation making a difference
The Myeloma Foundation provides up to date information and caring support via our oncology trained nurses. The Foundation services are all free of charge and include:
- Myeloma support nurses
- 1800 helpline
- Support groups
- Various related publications
- MFA Magazine
- Access to leading experts via seminars, workshops and video links.
Our small team of dedicated staff work tirelessly in their roles. Our part time research nurse and myeloma case manager works with patients to study and achieve improved longevity and quality of life once diagnosed. Our two part time myeloma nurses based in Melbourne and Sydney also work in oncology in our major hospitals. The nurses overlap to ensure our patient support line is attended five days per week. They also travel around Australia educating and supporting patients, carers and medical professionals, attending support groups and giving seminars. Our part time finance officer attends to all things financial.
Our two full time non-medical staff consist of the CEO and an Admin/Fundraising/Branding/Marketing officer. We are small in staff numbers but have a big volunteer support network that we could not run the Foundation without.
